About me !
WHo AM I...
I’ll tell you what I’m not. I’m not an artist that creates with one medium and specializes in one subject…portraits, landscapes, still life, etc. There’s nothing wrong at all with that, BUT…I can’t do that. EVERYTHING inspires me! Different mediums, different subjects from rusty nails to a beautiful sky to my cat peeping around a corner showing only one ear and a predator's eye…waiting for the attack! I simply LOVE the act of creating…ANYTHING!
So much of my art looks like different artists could have done it...I don't know if that's considered a good or bad thing...But I do know it's my thing. I do realistic portraits and whimsical storybook art. I design, produce, and sell my homeware products. I guess you could say I’m a jack of all trades when it comes to being an Artist! I feel incredibly blessed to have been gifted in all these areas…it gives my life a sense of adventure, and discovery is around every corner with me.
Life is too short not to be lived to the fullest...I like to paint it pretty!
A little Background info.....
In 1988 I received an Associate in Arts Degree from the Art Institute of Atlanta, Ga. Back then, you could get a job with a two-year degree…I know…RIGHT…those days are long gone! I thought the only way to make a living in art was through advertising. I traveled down that path for about three years.
After three years out in the world of stress and deadlines after, my husband (the love of my life) and I had the first of our two boys…I decided to start my business painting murals…working alone, and calling all my shots…what a BLESSED place to be! I hit the mural and faux finish business at prime time in the 90s. I stayed on that path hot and heavy until the early 2000s when I pulled out of the art world to take care of my family due to sickness with multiple family members…those were sad, hard years.
After the sad days were over and to the present, I've been doing everything from illustrating children's books, portraits, murals, custom canvas work, computer graphics, logo design, and now creating my own Home Decor Line!!! I even teach art. There’s no downtime for me.
